Emsisoft Anti-Malware — High security, low requirements – that’s the motto. The developer from New Zealand has made a great job over its malware detector, so Emsisoft AM is good at detecting and neutralizing viruses and other malware. It also consumes little resource while running, so you can do your regular work as usual, without even noticing another application.
This means that the product is as minimalistic as can be. It doesn’t offer its own firewall, so you have rely on the built-in Windows one. The suite hardly has any bells and whistles at all, as well as bloat features. You can’t customize it while installing and have very few options after that. But the available options are clear, easily seen and found and well optimized for touch controls. This makes the subject a good choice for transformer laptops with touchscreens and energy saving hardware.
If you like the idea of this slim and small suite, you’ll have to keep your Windows Defender turned off while running Emsisoft Anti-Malware, as it’s not disabled automatically, so the two scanners can conflict. It doesn’t scan USB media proactively unless a malware piece starts from it.
